game exits after about 2 mins. of play in avamods server
 

hey guys. im back at home so i have a half-decent connection now. but i cant play on the server.

after a minute or two, DoD freezes briefly, then exits back into windows. steam doesnt crash. it only does this in this server.

perhaps theres a plugin my computer is having trouble dealing with? is there anyway i can record the final lines of data before the crash? looking in your direction optic haha...

I am having a similar problem 2nite. I join the server and get to the splash screen (where the animals are sitting around the buddha) and then the game shuts down all the way.

hmm strange.. in the logs it just shows you disconnecting..

nothing on the pc (like firewalls or anything) or anything with steam/dod has changed since the last time you were home and played (assuming it worked fine then...) ???


and for some reason i thought this was sorta happening to me (and maybe there was a few others) a couple months ago.. but i cant think at all what i might have done that made it go away...


hmm was it on the same map the whole time? or did it do it on different maps as well?



... you could always try a few things..

such as deleting the clientregistry.blob from the steam folder and re-logging into steam
delete and re-download the GCF files in the steam/steamapps folder (could try just the day of defeat one, but all the half-life ones are more then likely used as well)
..ive also heard problems of random crashes happening while running AIM.. so if you got that running.. could try closing AIM and then try playing..

hey diamond it still crashed after i deleted clientregistry.blob and re-login.

im gonna delete DoD and install it again and i'll let you know.

now my dod crashes to the desktop before i even get in the game

even after the reinstall its still doing it.

i even tried old video card drivers.

told u it was anti-hack system.

it happens to me sometimes too.


look at your windows that are non-open DOD should be there. click on it and your good to go

from what i got outta that, it sounds like your saying that my DoD is minimizing to the system tray. sometimes it does this, but thats not the problem in this case. my DoD is crashing.

umm that wouldnt make any difference

nahh that would just make a profile, the registry would still be messed with, whats needed is something like adaware with the adwatch enabled, it loads when windows loads and keeps away the nastys.. you never will be totally immune to spyware and malware but you can always cut it back

ok i did some research and it might have something to do with the sounds i download for the server.

is there any way i can prevent myself from downloading those sounds? i tried using the -nosound command. the wavs were downloaded but no sounds were coming out. and it still crashed.

but i dont really see how downloading sounds would be causing it.. as once you download them.. you already have them and dont have to get them again.. and without them.. you'd probably get a bunch of errors constantly..

ok i changed my screen res to 1024.

it lasted the longest this time... and the error i got was something about p_paraknife.mdl missing.

BLAH nevermind. just crashed after like a minute of play.

it crashes right after a continuous sound plays for about a second. like, once an mg starts firing. or when someone starts talkin on the mic.

ok just tried turning the sound quality to low.

crashed after about 20 seconds.

this sucks. only does this in this server.

heyy man i got the Fix for ya mine did it awhile back when u load dod type fs_lazy_precache 1 The Default is 0 Awhile back i did some searching on Steam Forums and somone posted this as a fix and oddly enough it works ...Distraction shoulda known the command since about a week ago i told him this and it worked for him...Fuckin pedo ;) ...Sorry i been MIA as of late im back I had family in from florida and i threw a huge memorial day party

actually it turned out the lazy precache thing didn't fix it.... but deleting the clientregistry.blob did fix it for me... go figure.

it still seems to be crashing after some kind of sound event. it just crashed during the sound of someone taking damage after a fall.

most of time its during an explosion or mg firing sound.

I meant make ur pc so that she cant get on at all ;)

you could try turning dev mode on.. developer 1

and watching the console and try to see exactly what it might be saying before it crashes...

This is the same problem I was having a month ago or so. I thought it might just be my schools internet connection, but i have not yet tried to connect from my new apartment.
