using mp3 player in my car
well my deck doesnt have any aux input or anything like that (its an old Rockford Fosgate RFX9000) but i really want to be able to listen to my zune (8gb flash version) thru it.. and no i dont want to spend $$$ on a new deck even tho i need one badly (this one some of the buttons, like next track lol, dont work and it skips quite a lot)
pretty much seems to leave my options at only FM transmitters.. which there seems to be so many to choose from and mixed reviews about all of them... and i would prefer one that both runs off a cig lighter (for in my car) but also batteries (so i can use it on the radio at work) but if it comes down to it.. i rather be able to listen to it just in my car if that would give me better quality.. originally i was looking at the one microsoft makes for the zune (the newer v2 one btw) but since that has to be plugged into a cig lighter i decided to look elsewhere.. sorta looking at the belkin tunecase 3.. but im really not sure wondering if anyone else has used these things or knows something that would work better (even if its just for my car and wouldnt allow me to use it at work) |
i use one of these
http://cgi.ebay.com/LCD-FM-Transmitt...QQcmdZViewItem but i wired it into my truck and its set to broadcast on my radio, I really have too much crap there, with my TOMTOM, XM Radio and this.. |
i had a FM transmitter for my ipod, walk out of the mall, opened it up, set the station and about 5 miles on my way home it was being interrupted by another station. Returned that shit the next day for the cassette tape player thing.
Being u do live upstate you may have better luck with keeping the same station n not getting interrupted. Also the sound quality sucked major nuts with the FM transmitter... |

Dia I have a scion and theres actually a kit that i can purchase to hook up to my car so that I can plug my mp3 right into the stereo or car... you might wanna check out to see if zune has something like that... |
my brother had a tape that you could plug a minidisk player into... I think he used for mp3 player too...

|
well i picked up a belkin tunecast II last night... it was dark and late so i didnt spend much time with it, but i was totally unable to get a decent signal with it..
but today i messed around with it some more.. and i figured the short little wire on it (that connects to my zune headphone jack) probably acts as the antenna.. so i took an extension cable and put that on and took off part of my dash and ran the cable inside the dash and wrapped it around my stereo and now it sounds pretty good.. still some slight static between songs or during really quiet parts but nothing real bad.. and plus now the cables are hidden behind the dash so ill see how this works for a few days :) |
So since krissi and Geno have Scion ...Is that like the official Ladies Who Eat Pink Taco Car?
|
what happened to using the fake cassette tape that plugs into the headphones jack?
Also, I'm now considering getting a scion... |

no its a tape with a headphone jack connected to it that u plug into ur ipod if u have a tape deck in ur car its the best method to connect an ipod......
if you have an aftermarket deck though you can connect it manually. |

does ur deck have an aux. setting?
|
Quote:
pretty sure that means no lol |
well actually no it doesnt....because they make aux. settings on decks without inputs for satellite radio which can be hooked up using something called a high-low which is a device that gets hard wired into ur speakers and has inputs on it......it also can be used to hook up amplifiers....and basically instead of buying what you bought u should of jus spent like $100 and got a new head unit, especially if its that ancient that it doesnt have aux settings.
|
but it sounds good lol.. and im getting a new vehicle in the spring.. so i dont wanna spend anything for this one without having any idea what ill be driving in a few months.. so spending about $25 isnt bad.. and when i get a new one.. it'll be something decent.. not a cheap one ;) ..and actually i need a new amp and subs and all my speakers too lol.. and i cant do one without doing them all, its just not right lol
and you were talking about ones that play cassette tapes yet what i have must be ancient tho it is pretty old either way lol |
well i didnt know what kind of car u had.....in some cars they have both a tape deck and a cd player....its common in cars from 92-96
|
and if u need a hand with some info on good subs/speakers/decks to buy feel free to ask i've been putting in stereos for a long time and i'll be happy to help ya out.
|
you could stick to cds :)
