Cpu hardware recommendations
 

Well I ve been thinking about about upgrading my cpu for a while now and now that I know i have pci not pci-e but pci slots... but what is the best "pci" grx card out there that my dell can handle btw I can run some high end games like IL2 and RO but I can barely run some or any so I would like the most optimum card my dell can handle so whats out there?

hmm lol PCI gpu's are hard to find these days.. as far as nvidia goes, i dont think ive seen anything newer then the low end of the 6 series cards made for PCI, and a low end 6 series (i think the 6200 is available for PCI) probably wouldnt handle much at all.. i doubt it would handle RO decently at anything over 640x480) and since the 6200 is a low end card it usually only has passive cooling which is junk if youre going to game with it, especially inside a dell that probably doesnt really have great airflow

you dont even have AGP? must be a really old motherboard if it doesnt have an AGP slot for a GPU as AGP is even outdated today, My old pc which is probably about 8 years old had AGP 4x (tho the difference between 4x and 8x isnt noticable from everything ive read and its usually idiots that say its twice as slow lol)

heh i had AGP 4x & a 6600gt 128mb card and it was barely playable going thru HL2 on directx 7 mode with all low settings and resolution

what model is your dell so i can check out the specs for it?

I have a dell dimension b110 I never looked inside my case to check for slots , I never checked inside my case, just went to hardware and saw pci bus. what else is there intel celeron d if that helps

only 3 pci slots, no agp which is crazy...


and i really doubt any older PCI compatible video card is gonna help with anything lol

upgrade your mobo and get some pci-e slots

If i was to get a new mother board im better off getting a comp, so Im basically screwed with what i got with the pci slots

so you still have not even opened the case to look at the slots? i find it odd you wouldnt have an agp slot

build a new cpu dude don't bother to upgrade your old one. trust you will like what you build...

ya thats what you got i believe.. and just opening the case wouldnt fuck anything up, theyre usually made to be opened lol, tho if you start yanking on shit inside it, you might do some damage lol
