we should do somethign about classic hill....
 

every time the map comes up on circulation every goes ......

noone likes playing it and half the server leaves when it comes up.

if u guys wanna keep it, w/e, but i think we should just do a poll.

well i dont really think any of us really like it.. but a lot of the regulars do.. and 80% of the time it gets voted for as the nextmap...

and to be honest with you... what i notice a lot of the time is if the server is empty or only has 2 or 3 ppl on it.. putting it on hill usually fills it up (unless krissi is on.. there everymap fills up in like 10minutes)

i have it set so that hill cant be extended, so its no more then 30mins.. but im also thinking of trying to get it so if you play hill.. then goto another map.. that you cant go right back to hill after that.. maybe make it so you have to play like 2 maps or something before you can vote for hill again

i really dispise this map.. lol.. it has potention, but poor construction ruins it.. but to be honest.. i think its responsible for a decent chunk of the traffic we get now....


i would like to start pushing avalanche a bit more, as i'd like to really bring forth the roots of a avalanche server.. but at the same time having other maps available...

I love hill man.. it was a classic.. i played it like 6 years ago or something.. it had a cannon where you could blow all people.. and axis sniper was fucking semiautomatic..!!!!!

I've also been playing a lot of ava recently...:p

How many servers run ava? Like more then 1/3 whenever I refresh. How many servers run hill? I've seen 2 or 3 most of the time its only 1, that would be us. I don't know about anyone else but I have to fight to get into the server when its 20/21 on hill. It always fills up fast, and open slots never stay for very long.

We RARELY play hill compared to ava. How often does an admin use their powers to over-ride a vote and extend ava? Alot. But this never happens for hill, as diamond said it makes up for 80% of the map votes yet admins are always trying to get us off it. None of the admins like hill = P its so biased. But we're always running off to play ava.

So whats the plan, turn us into another 24/7 ava server? Yea thats original, I'm sure no1 has done that yet. There are about a billion ava servers, if people are so in love with ava why don't they go play on a server commited to 24/7 ava and leave the ONE server that ever runs hill.

I haven't been on the server much in the last 2 months compared to my usual presence. It seems whenever I get on we either just finish playing hill 5-10 minutes ago or we're playing ava or we're playing hill but some admin won't allow it to be extended and we're stuck back on ava. I've pretty much stopped comming to the server when its on ava, and i go play css instead. Which is highly odd because every1 knows i love hill on cd.

I know every1 has heard people say "awww this map again? we were just here." when we switch over to ava again after playing only 1 round of another map. Thats because its true, we always play ava!

Give us what the people want, play hill not ava!

I've played both maps a bit too much now... I much prefer maps that I'm crap on like donner, kalt, flash, paintball... ect... so I bugger off..

Hill is still a good map.. a map is only as good as the players on it.. if you have a team of nubs like the other night, then yes it sucks..

well for years cdrive was 24/7 ava then i started working in a couple other maps (of which hill wasnt on till after quite a while) but avalanche still weighed pretty heavily and was the only map in rotation (while there would still be votes for other maps) then i worked in hill classic into the rotation with ava but have always tried to have avalanche get more play time over hill.. as i really still view the server as a 24.7 ava server plus a little more lol

..so our roots are deep in avalanche.. especially for us who have been in cdrive for years..


and probably the only time an admin is extending ava even when the vote is different.. is when im on.. lol.. not sure if anyone else does that, or can do that lol.. and i dont really play much anymore.. so if im able to get on for an hour or two.. you can damn well believe im playing the map I want!

one reason i hate hill, and probably the other admins do too, is because whenever we are playing on hill.. we dont really get to play... we have to spend the whole game babysitting everyone cause the only reason half the ppl want to play that map is cause they can camp the whole time with sniper in the back corners of it... or go and camp the enemy spawn and rack up kills... theres a very small percentage of ppl who actually capture flags and 'move' in the map compared to the amount of ppl whole just prone in the bushes or camp spawns

it would just be stupid to always have a map running that none of the ppl who actually maintain the server ever want to play on...

i could just go back to how things used to be.. and sorta what i miss.. and that'd be just a modded ava server... BUT by adding other maps.. im trying to give people what they want without giving up what i want... and people that basically want it to be a 24/7 hill server are free to go play css instead

Dia can you limit the time's Hill shows up on votes? like every other vote so if its not on there to vote for people might pick sumtin else just a suggestion :)

There should be an option that lets me ban everyone who votes for hill. Seriously.

And there's a shitload of ava, even for a 24/7 ava server. Donner, flash, anzio, kalt, and even occasionally caen are fun. Forest is awesome when the server's at 18+/21.

I've said it numerous times. Sticking my dick in a cheese grater is 10x more fun than hill. Lets see why it gets voted. Hill is an easy map for bad players to sit in one spot and get their rare 1:1 ratio.

I actually LOVE hill, I think its a great map, but everytime it comes on I leave because I know nub campers are gonna have much more fun on it than myself :(

I do have an idea to stop newcomers camping spawns though (and now my brain hurts real bad after thinking it up :s )
A simple poster on the spawn walls indicating where you cant go.
eg, in axis house, 'DO NOT ENTER THE ALLIED FORT' etc
at least then, newcomers cant go 'oh, well I didnt know' :mad:

something that wouldnt allow any fire inside the fort would be useful too, the amount of times ive seen a sniper or mg set up next to the left wall is ridiculous. I know youre not supposed to shoot into spawn, but if theyre trying to shoot me from inside there, Im going to shoot them.
axis cant shoot into it, so allies shouldnt be allowed to camp in there and shoot out, knowing they cant be hit

on allies, I have actually had a guy sneak in, come up the tower, and KNIFE me, TWICE :eek: then say 'how else was I supposed to kill you?'
since there seems to be a glitchy thing going on there, and you stick out like a sore thumb when youre up there, the tower should be excluded from the camping thing :)

jesus, if I can kill someone in the tower with an mp40 from across the map, surley it cant be that difficult........

or off the edge of the fort into the water ^^

I like throwing smokes in front of where krissi is prone with sniper...Or any other sniper or mg makes them mad :) and normally makes them move

i like hill sometimes...like one round, but not when it's extended. the big reason being the shot registration. ill have the xhair dead on their face, use a whole clip, and it wont even take one hit.

i diont like hill much because of the campers everywhere. and can you put other maps to vote for instead of the modified ones

i saw that mapers thread... if you do that type of shit... if you could make another exit from the basement spawn out to the water or something, just anything so there is another way to get out of allied spawn because i think thats a lot of the issue when being an allied is that being sniped or MGed coming out of the base... its def helped having a extra sniper rifle laying around, props on that

theres no way to actually edit the map to make new spawn exits.. unless someone has the source :(

and as for the sniper rifle on the allied side.. i should move it closer to the actual spawn.. cause the one on the axis side is right there.. idk.. i dont really like wasting much time doing stuff to hill anymore lol..
