something to think about

75 law-abiding Virginia Tech students who have permits in Virginia to carry concealed weapons but live on campus turned their weapons over to campus security for "safe-keeping" at the beginning of the school year. An untold number of other law-abiding Virginia Tech students with CCW permits left their weapons at home when they moved on campus. And many more law-abiding Virginia Tech students who live off campus left their weapons at home when they came to class this morning.

So Virginia Tech was a perfectly safe "gun-free" zone. Except for that one guy.

As a weapons owner and a CCW permit carrier I actully feel ashamed to enjoy my firearms.. Something my instructor told me years ago.. guns dont kill people, people kill people,...

Updated at 10 p.m., Monday, 04.16.2007

Two shooting incidents on campus Monday left 33 dead. Thirty-one, including the gunman, died at Norris Hall; two died at West Ambler Johnston Hall. Fifteen other victims from Norris are being treated at area hospitals.

:'(

im glad all of my friends that go there are ok. i dont know if vt is one of my top school choices anymore though...

probably cause it takes ppl's minds off him sending more troops to iraq while he gives the same 2 or 3 speeches that he always gives over the past 5 or 6 years..

Cheepnis April 17th, 2007 07:11 PM

yea like the girl i made cry today b/c we were talking about it in math..and all i asked was could we get back on with the lesson. She turns to me and says theres tragedies going around in the world now that are more important than math. then she cried and left the room. the thing is i know her personally and i know she knows nobody that even lives in VA. just like in Rescue Me..how denis leery thought it was pathetic how he saw people crying over 9/11 who werent even here when it happened and knew no one in anyway that was involved in the incident. Not trying to be an ass. just saying people need to know shit like this happens.

and opinions are like assholes. did i say i ruled it out? no. this is their second shooting in one year not to mention their recent bomb threats. it's a huge school and if it's prone to shit like that why would i want to go there? a shooting at a random mcdonalds is an isolated incident, but shit has been happening at vt constantly. and cheepins, seriously, get over yourself. you dont need to know someone in virginia or be at the 9/11 attacks to know they were sad.

diamond-optic April 17th, 2007 11:12 PM

lmao

Cheepnis April 17th, 2007 11:15 PM

Oh shit let me cry and go to therapy for several years because tons of people i dont know died.

Genocide April 18th, 2007 01:05 AM

you can not care yet still be respectful, which youre not.

Jonny Automatic April 18th, 2007 12:56 PM

I wouldnt be honest if I said that things that have nothing to do with me really affect me.. but I still feel a small part of ":(" when I hear of such things. imo: its pointless grieving over things you have nothing to do with, but at the same time its important to pay respect and offer sympathy to those who were affected.

I contradict myself. if any of the above sounds like shit.. it sounded right in my head at the time :D

thegiv3r April 18th, 2007 01:37 PM

yea the events at VA tech sucked, but i rly am not upset were i am depressed and afraid to go to school.

I live 20 miles from NYC and could see the smoke from the WTC, yea that day sucked b/c it happened right next door to me n i had family that worked in the city and that day was more like wow look how easy it is to have a terrorist attack. Same with this event, as i finished classes today and walked back to my car i was like that could happen at my school to, not really public high schools but colleges.
These buildings dont have secruity guards at the doors checking in ppl, i mean if you wanted a free education go to any college and walk into a class and sit there n learn.
But Genocide, being u know ppl who go to VT, it will affect u more than it would Cheepnis or me. LOL at cheepnis story bout the girl.

Yea shit does happen

and why the hell did bush go speak there??

jonsdj April 18th, 2007 04:04 PM

they should forbid weapons in the USA its easy to kill people

Dredknot April 18th, 2007 06:52 PM

I feel compasion for the students and thier familys, and have no respect for people who feel the need to use this incident to try and shock and awe us with cheep, uneeded, and disrespectful comments about it.
Who says you have to stop everything and not go on with life to mourn someone?
In the end all we have in life is the we lived and the way we treat onanother.

I can understand a hunting rifle or a farmer's shotgun.. but why do people need revolvers which are made as just people killers? eh you crazy yanks =P

diamond-optic April 18th, 2007 08:25 PM

the least the country could do is re-enact the ban on assualt rifles and such.. a guy that used to work with me was crazy.. like a real nut job.. went to get high with him one day.. and he showed me all his guns he has.. at least a dozen handguns.. assorted rifles and shotguns.. not to mention he had an ak47 and literally 1000's of rnds of ammo.. tbh.. it was kinda cool to hold a real ak.. but come on.. no one really needs all that firepower lol... especially this guy.... but of course bush aint no help with that..

thats what ya get with a texan president heh

ha thanks goat! and diamond my dad has two aks, and an sks amongst numerous other semi auto rifles.. ive had keys to the cabinet since i was 15 and would never shoot up a school lol i just went a few weeks ago and we ran 500 rounds through the new AR, not to mention a garand and a few other choice items, and that was just a morning...

120 April 19th, 2007 08:16 AM

Gun control is the problem. The background checks aren't thorough enough, which is how he got his guns. A 10 minute revision of the law could do so damn much.

Cheepnis April 19th, 2007 05:12 PM

you can still buy guns off the street not that hard...

nice, some of my best BBq's have some guns, I have a some land behind my home, so its private and fenced off.. nothing like getting The 98's, MP40'S and the MG's out, My next purchase will be a russian PPSh-41. I always inform the local police when we shoot, some of them even stop by to see if we are ok:).

I have checz sks and that shoots like a dream, looks cheap as hell and all pressed metal but i get zeros everytime with it

I also teach firearm safety to women at my local gun club (you would be surprised how many women actully like to shoot)

maybe I should get some you guys up to Philly later in the summer for some brawts and bullets :)

coltron April 19th, 2007 11:16 PM

yea you probably have close to the same sks we do, yugo surplus, except with a composite stock and the mounts for the bayonet and rifle nade taken off.
