well apparently my mom went on my pc today to go on the internet for like 15minutes (well this is what she says)

now when i started it up.. my 2nd hard drive (the one i keep everything on) says the master file table is corrupt..

so basically it seems like im gonna lose EVERYTHING.. ive had to reformat plenty of times in the past.. but thats usually the C: drive, hence why i keep important stuff on D:

so this really fucking sucks.. have no idea what ill do if i end up having to reformat it all and lose everything


i probably wont be around for a couple days at least :(

SHIT JUST THOUGHT AS I PRESSED ENTER CANT U UNPLUG C:\ MAKE D:\ YOUR PRIMARY THEN DO A LOWE INSTAL OF WINDOWS THAT DOESNT FORMAT THE ACTUAL DRIVE?

cant do any system restore.. as system restore saves the restore files on the drive itself... repair or anything such as chkdsk.. wont run.. everytime its saying 'corrupt master file table' 'aborting....'

and i dont want to do anything that is going to reformat or even try and write anything to the drive yet..


pretty much seems my only option is to hope i can get a data recovery program to save at least some of the drive..

well i ran spinrite overnight and it didnt find any errors.. kinda odd.. but whatever...

so before work today i started a scan in EasyRecovery Pro to try and save at least some of my shit.. been running for about 8 1/2 hrs.. got 10hrs left and thats just the scan, im gonna assume it will take a while for it to copy files and shit to my other hard drive (about 100-120gb of data i lost..)

ok the recovery scan is done...

now just 15+ hrs to copy all the files over to my other hard drive :(



and sadly, its a huge mess.. some folders/files seem to be intact and all.. but there is also other folders named like: DIR#### and the #### starts at 0 and goes up past 3500.. and each folder has random files in them.. so theres probably no chance of me finding exactly where all that shit is supposed to go... and its gonna take me like a month to go thru that many folders anyway... ive browsed thru some of the folders.. and there is definitly some important stuff scattered in them.. a lot of stuff for the web/game servers.. so thats no good lol

so ya.. this sucks.. but i guess at least its looking better then losing it all..

well looking at the files that have already been copied over.. it seems that at least most of the server/avamods related stuff is all ok :D

just 2 1/2 more hours :D heh 100gb copied 20gb more to go..

then ill have to reformat the drive and run the Western Digital diagnostic tool and scan it to make sure the drive itself isnt fucked up.. and that takes like 20hrs. lol..

so.. almost there.. lol

what happened like a month ago, or whenever... was my primary drive.. which i dont really put anything on... so its not a big deal when something happens to that.. plus then i was able to easily backup files..

but now im looking at just getting a new hard drive.. its a good time to do it.. lol..

well its not exactly easy to back up 120gb (add 300gb more if you include my other hard drive too thats full)


tho i do plan on getting a 400 or 500 gb internal to replace my 180.. so i guess after that i can use the 180 for backups

i cant stand this dell.. (dimension 8100) ..ive had it since i was like 16 or 17, so that could be more reason why i hate it.. tho ive replaced a good amount of the stuffs inside.. but the damn 1700mhz cpu and the slow ass RDRAM kills me.. holds back my video card too :( tho my card isnt that great (MSI GeForce 6600GT) but i should definitly get better FPS in dod with the card running at the lowest settings

but i dont exactly have the funds to build myself a new one.. so im kinda outta luck

seems to work fine... got it 2 years ago for £565 (x2 for dollars)

well the hard drive is definitly dying...

what shit lol, spent days copying all the files BACK over to it after reformatting it..

now its acting up again.. takes 4 or 5 bootups till it even gets recognized.. it randomly stops working after I finally get the damn thing to even work at all... and when it does work.. reading or writing to it.. it will slow down.. stutter a few times.. and then work fine for a minute before stuttering again.. its especially noticable running music, or video files .. or playing games.. then the same files are totally smooth when running them off the other drive..

ran chkdsk overnight (took forever.. idk.. it ran for about 5 or 6 hours before i went to bed and it was only 33% on step 4, and it was 20% about 3 or 4 hours earliar lol) and it found a ton of problems.. and of course its attempt at fixing the problems is just deleting the data in those sectors and telling me that not only do the errors still exist, but that it has also deleted some of my files..

so i bought a 500gb drive today..

only problem is its a SATA drive and my pc needs IDE or whatever.. and of course not a single store around here has any adaptors in stock.. so i had to order one online.. which means i wont be able to do anything for like a week probably..

so ya.. since i enjoyed not being around last weekend... im gonna do it for another week or two.. at least...

alright got all the hardware i need now :D

formatted the bad drive.. now im using norton ghost to make a backup of my primary drive on the shitty one (doesnt hurt to have a backup even if its on a half dead drive) sooo thats got about 12hrs left

so hopefully tomorrow night ill be able to pull all this shit out and put my new hard drive in and start copying all my shit over to it :D

had all sorts of problems with both hard drives not showing up.. or they would just stop working at random times while doing stuff.. which caused like 500 lockups and blue screens over the past few days.. so today i replaced the cable.. and then it wouldnt find the OS.. on both my current primary and the ghost backup i made on my other drive.. wouldnt even work anymore putting the old cable back in..

so i had to fucking reformat my primary.. which fucking blows as it takes like a month to get everything back the way i had it

if this fucking bullshit happens again im not going to even bother to fix it
