Server Motd
I have seen your server and your work, I can honestly say its amazing.
I was wondering if you guys can make me a similar server MOTD. Mine is just pathetic, and I get alot of traffic in my server and website, so I would like a more cleaner professional look. I also have psycho stats, and I would love to pretty much have the same motd server look. Offcourse if you guys don't mind. It would mean alot to me and my clan members. my website is fullcontactgamers.jcbgaming.com - r4ndom |
Also... I am always looking for scrims, I hope we can all get together and play DOD_Hill against each other.
|
motd's are simple.. its just html code..
you have aim or msn or anything? would be easier to talk on then this for details.. if not we can use this tho... here's a link to mine, tho it looks a lil different outside of the game.. like i dont think the java will load in the motd window, but not a big deal lol.... motd |
it's amazing, thats the sort of MOTD I am looking for. I use xfire and AIM, but I am on xfire all the time. My xfire name is tookie13, and my AIM is r4ndom88..
Would it be at all possible to make the same server motd just different colors? If so, it would be great, then we can work out some sort of deal. I'll post a banner of yours on my site so people can visit your mods/maps section. just let me know if we can work something out. Thnx! :) |
For the Gore plugin, where is the heart beat soundfile???????
|
it comes with half-life.. its inside the gcf file
|
Can u make me a similar motd????
|
WOW man.... I dont know how I fucked it all up.
Please take a look. <!DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.0 Transitional//EN"> <html><head> <meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=unicode"> <meta name="keywords" content="dod motd"> <style type="text/css"> BODY { scrollbar-base-color: #f2f2f2; scrollbar-track-color: #f9fafa; scrollbar-face-color: #999999; scrollbar-highlight-color: #ffffff; scrollbar-3dlight-color: #ffffff; scrollbar-darkshadow-color: #C8C8CA; scrollbar-shadow-color: #C8C8CA; scrollbar-arrow-color: #f2f2f2; } A:link {text-decoration: none} A:visited {text-decoration: none} A:active {text-decoration: none} A:hover {text-decoration: underline} </style> <meta content="MSHTML 6.00.2900.2802" name="GENERATOR"></head> <body bgcolor="848484" text="FFFFFF" link="E29C1D" vlink="E29C1D"> <font face="tahoma" color="ffffff" size="2"> <div align="center"> <table cellspacing="0" cellpadding="10" width="100%" align="center" bgcolor="313131" bordercolor="#c0c0c0"> <tr> <td colspan="2" valign="botttom"> <div align="center"><img src="http://southparktunes.com/dod/new_motd_logo1.jpg" height="120" width="400"> </div></td></tr> <tr><td colspan="2" valign="top"></td></tr> <tr valign="top"> <td> <p align="right"><iframe src="http://stats.jcbgaming.com/fcg/motd.php" width="245" scrolling="no" height="225" frameborder="0"></iframe></p></td> <td> <p align="left"><a href="http://stats.jcbgaming.com/fcg/"> view psychostats</a><br><a href="http://fullcontactgamers.jcbgaming.com/"> view website</a><br>-------------------------<br><strong><u>READ THESE RULES<br></u></strong>-NO being disrespectful or stupid<br>-NO shooting directly into spawn areas<br>-NO spawn/excessive camping<br>-NO cheating or exploiting of any kind</p></td></tr> <tr valign="top"> <td colspan="2"> <p align="justify"><br><font face="Verdana"><strong>contact:</strong> <br>Email: <A href="mailto:r4ndom13@comcast.net">r4ndom13@comcas t.net</a><br>Xfire: tookie13</font></p> </td></tr></table></div></font> <br> </center></font></body></html> |
O shit... looks good here, BUT on the server motd, it only shows the psychostats box with player names, is the background color doing it??? or what.... Im so lost and frustrated.
|
Please take a look at my server. The IP is located at fullcontactgamers.jcbgaming.com
I am really frustrated and can't find a way to fix it. I think its the color scheme, but then again, I am not really sure. It looks great here, just not on the actual server. I'm so lost. |
well if you're taking the html code and putting that right in the motd.txt file that might be why..
let me know if thats what you're doing and i'll tell you the better way |

I think thats what I am doing. :( |
yeh... I just checked, I put it in the motd.txt
|
ok the most simple way for me to attempt and explain this is as follows: lol..
open: http://southparktunes.com/dod/new_motd_logo1.jpg and Right Click > Save Image As.. and save that to your PC.. then take that file and upload it to your webhost.. for the sake of an example.. lets say you put it in: http://fullcontactgamers.jcbgaming.com/motd/ open: http://southparktunes.com/dod/new_motd.htm in your browser.. then goto FILE > SAVE PAGE AS and save it to your PC.. then using notepad open the .htm file. In notepad, make any changes to the code that you want.. like rules etc etc... also find this line: Code:
http://southparktunes.com/dod/new_motd_logo1.jpg *following example* http://fullcontactgamers.jcbgaming.c...motd_logo1.jpg ....then save the file (keeping it as the .htm file) and upload that to the webhost (same folder that you put the logo file in) now you should be all set with the webhost... next take the "motd.txt" file thats located on the gameserver and put this: HTML Code:
<html><frameset cols="*" framespacing="0" frameborder="no" border="0"> http://southparktunes.com/dod/motdAd.htm line to where ever you uploaded your motd.htm file ....following the example, that would be: http://fullcontactgamers.jcbgaming.c...d/new_motd.htm then save that file and upload it to your gameserver all should be working after that.. *also* feel free to rename the logo jpg or the motd.htm file to whatever you want, just as long as you also change any links that go with them.. tho leaving them as is wont really do any harm... hope thats easy to understand |
yeh man... i messed with it and it finally works. Thnx!
|
some of the style stuff might not work.. like hovering style for links... not sure if the hl motd window can handle that..
|
I know this is an old thread but i need a little help from D-O
My website was recently hacked and i lost all the folders including my psychostats, i backed up the folder but the 1 file i needed was corrupt, It's the motd_top10.php, this is the file that links in and shows in the server MOTD, the psychostats top10 players on the server. You wouldn't be kind enough to let me have this code again D-O. Cheers |

umm here's mine
idk if its the right one tho, it doesnt read the db directly each time the file is called. I have another file that gets the db entries (set up via a cron to run after each stats update) and it saves the top 10 players to another file.. Then this file just reads the entries that are saved in that other file |
use bullets motd please

I noticed you said you have another file which actually grabs the DB entries. how would i go about generating this other file?. Thanks for your time and patience. Ba5ic |

everytime the motd_query.php is called, it will get the top 10 from the db and save them to the motd_saved.php
I have my stats update every hour, so i have a cron setup calling the motd_query.php file at 15 minutes after every hour. (for my web server it looks like: php -q /home/user/public_html/avamods/stats/motd_query.php) This method saves a ton of db queries. As you dont need to get the top10 from the db everytime the motd (or whatever youre using the top10 in) is called when there hasnt been any update to the stats. Its also much faster on a huge/slow stats db |
Thanks D-O, Ur a star !!! :P
Only problem, my cronjob won't run, don't know if its because its in the public_html folder?, all permissions are correct. May try putting the motd_query.php next to the stats.pl, i know that runs and updates the stats. I ran the motd_query.php just by navigating to the page --> MOTD Top Ten Updated Successfully. At least top10 are showing now :P. Thanks again. |
