Radio/Music Mod
 

I've been playing some DOD:S latly and theres a sever Im always in that has the mod, was wondering if its out there for DOD, you type in Music or Radio and it lets you select around 200 sounds that they loaded up. Works great and is a good idea, feedback anyone? :D

that would be fun if that is possible

except then every player that connects has to sit there and wait for their client to download an assload of songs...

not to mention precaching all those files would put the server over the limit and crash it, unless i removed a lot the mods that are on it now..


wouldnt it just be easier and a hell of a lot smarter.. to just load up winamp or wmplayer or whatever you use.. and choose exactly what songs you want to have...

Theres a catch tho, there wasn't any songs that I had to download, and didn't seem to affect me ping any, and yes, it would be alot better just to launch your own media player, but I liked it and thought it was a cool idea, was just sharing it with everyone and seeing what you all had to say about it. :)

what was some of the stuff you could play?

was it sounds that are already in halflife?

Nope it was like Tupac and ACDC, bunch of others, I hate long downloads and I always stop them and it didn't take time at all.

mebe it streams the music instead of DL?

ive never seen anyway to stream music thru halflife

its possible tho, i guess, that it uses low bitrate mp3s.. making the files really small.. which could mean a lot of small files would download pretty fast..

download pretty fast and sound really shite.
Ive spent a lot of time doofering music....I can get a 5mb track down to 3mb....any smaller and the qulity sux to the point where its not worth listening to. dunno how they did it on that server without big downloads.

A few sound clips you could play would be pretty funky though :)

I played on a german server that when you say stuff like "hi" "cu" or "lauf" it plays a humerous little sound that says Hello! or whatever... that didnt take too long to DL
