for those who have played on my little map in production:
plz leave feedback here. krissi kindly hosted it on HLDS for a while and it seemed to do well :D few more players and we'da been laughing! :P the map size has now increased since last night, it now has 2 towers and an area between to increase round time.:D points to deal with so far: texture alignment and trigger weaponstrip or hurt in spawn side passage for extra protection.:lol: thanks guys! if you want updated versions of this map contact me. I might be able to upload the "latest" version in a bit, so eyes open u dirty little nubbers;) |
was MUCH fun babu...if you like, maybe later i can open up the server thingy and run the latest version and have a round or two.. It was a blast I have to say :D Maybe we will be blessed and Mr Optic will grace us with his presence hehehe

we run it when we can...
at the moment the latest version has a huge wad file so I might have to mess arround with the wads to make 1 smaller one and of course if u look at the r speeds its really bad! :D but lets not talk about that shall we? |
if your using 3rd party wads (as in they dont come with dod) and you dont actually 'use' most of the textures.. just compile the ones the map does use into the bsp..

I wally'd a wad especially for this map using a couple of huge custom wads so now instead of 30mb download its about 500kb :D

well the version of the map i played was only like 700kb so if its only like 1mb or 2mb.. and the wad is small as well.... i would still think compiling the used textures in the bsp would be easier then having to distrubute/download 2 seperate files..
i mean it doesnt really matter either way lol.. just ppl (especially ppl like me lol) tend to favor 1 file over 2 :P heh |

I forgot to say it has a custom skymap...
anyway its getting ready for proper release. I've added mg points 2man cap flags in the towers and played a lil with lighting. I want to make it so that the 2 middle houses have the end walls blow-upable with a zook.. do u know how to do this dia? its the final step before I upload crap to here. :D |
make them func_breakables.. and you can play with the spawnflags to make them rocket only..
also do you use zoners to compile? i also remember using some gui that easily let me play with all the compile options (if i recall.. everyone has always said compiling right inside hammer is trash... and using the default compilers is trash too lol) |

hehe I compile using the zoner crap, but also use hammer to compile... I managed the walls... however the map does take like 40 mins or so to compile.. so I'll set it going before I go to bed... and if ur lucky I'll upload it tomorrow morning/when I get in
(for people who dont know what the attatchments are and where they go..like hawkeye) put assault.wad in youre "dod" folder... no where else k? put the fullmoon.tga files in "dod/gfx/env" k? easy! now when I upload the bsp tomorrow, put that in youre maps folder k? thanks dia btw. I figured out the breakable thing like 10 mins after I posted =P I put just normal blocks inside the wall so it wasnt just a square hole... seems to work so far... |
40 mins is nothing..
i used to have some that took 3-6hrs (when using like final release settings.. extra smoothing.. extra light bounces and such.. etc etc) |
extra is for queers like urself :D how much extra time does it add to compile?

depends on a lot of things.. which specific things you do.. the size of the map.. complexity of the brushwork.. number of lights, vis settings on brush entities.. etc

Holy mg42 spawn camping mother of mary purple jesus jumping on a pogo stick.
Interesting map. Reminds me of flash. Except, flash at least has a half ass way around problem areas. I foresee lame bastards camping spawn flags with mg42s and sniper rifles. The ladder textures will force you to wait a second to shoot..coming from below will offer someone a slight second of time before the mg42 mows you down. Dunno. Just feels like it'll be a heavy camp map. In my shitty opinion, add a couple other ways to get around. This way when Faggot McIDon'tMoveWithMyMG42 sets up..some crafty wench can knife him in the testes. I also predict, as is, this map will favor axis heavily. Is this on the server yet? Or we still waiting for the *final release*?

its had a release... I was thinking of a side route at one point but yeah... I'm boring and didnt like rendering.
I wanted to remove mg and sniper to be honest...but didnt know how. I was thinking of doing a donner or a flash idea with the side things yeah it looks like a dodgy pint glass but u get the idea... anyway I gotta add them blip brushes in high places |
