I'm Tim, and I started playing DoD back in the 1.3b days when all the guns shot straight as an arrow. I used to play on a laptop and a 56k connection, and quit playing DoD when it came out of beta because my comp couldn't handle it. That's when my roommate introduced me to LAN centers and I got heavily into CS 1.3. I eventaully got back into DoD a couple years later joined [ToKiN] which was a clan I used to play with in 1.3b, and then from there got into the competitivity DoD community. Now most of my gaming time is spent playing WoW and a few hours a week in AvAmods. What drew me to AvAmods was the fact that the mods made DoD an entirely different and fun game in the server.
