well yer OS has gone south, or the NTFS file system has thrown a fit to be exact. from the sounds of it a virus or something has corrupted the Ntfs.sys file.. its fixable but Its had since you have no real computer experience, it would take an age to talk you thro it unless its that important to you and i'll charge
in a nutshell.. its fucked... get your xp cd out and reinstall it.. you may be lucky in that it wont format the HD and all your stuff will still be accessable..
