Ive done that before, When I try to run the "registered" version of fpras if you get my drift, it wont execute

The first time I dl the registered wich was a couple of months ago, it worked, I had the demo version of fraps previously and did that search thing and deleted evry file... but now when I try I delete the files and install the registered version and nothing happens

uninstall all versions of fraps.

reboot

open regedit and search for both "fraps" and "fps1" (minus the quotation marks) and delete anything it comes up with. You then need to find all the keys I have listed below and delete them as well. The last entry is a file that will be in your temp folder, it wouldnt hurt to delete all the *.tmp files whilst you're at it.

Registry entries:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Licenses\\{K7C0DB872A3 F777C0}
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Licenses\\{I7F9ECD6918 2A4E6B}
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Licenses\\{07F9ECD6918 2A4E6B}
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Licenses

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Classes\CLSID\{50A9667 7-4378-434d-9F4B-6B28B485933F}
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Classes\CLSID\{5323032 7-172B-11D0-AD40-00A0C90DC8D9}Implemented Categories
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Classes\CLSID\{8F4820E 0-7C94-82E1-ECB4-E7DA5E10D00D}
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Classes\CLSID\{F10B322 D-D5EB-45B1-81C0-380EB462A462}

Files:
C:\DOCUMENTS AND SETTINGS\(insert your username here)\LOCAL SETTINGS\Temp\05EE1EEF.TMP

reboot and do a fresh install

reformat!!!

woohoooo

most registry cleaners are really junk and they wont remove specific entries that tend to be used for application registration data..

actually ive found more often then not (from trying quite a few different ones) that they can actually cause more problems then they seem to fix..

and manually seaching thru the registry for related entries is a HUGE bitch.. as most of the time the 'important' stuff isnt under an obvious name... sometimes it works for me but usually not.. and ill seach for variations of the app name and the company that makes it.. And a lot of programs dont use just the registry if they use it at all.. Ive found a lot stick random files in somewhere else and check those on reinstall and such (places like ../windows/ or ../windows/system32/ etc...) with encrypted data, or even encrypted file names (making it near impossible to track down the right file)

you said eariler that you had been in regedit and made some changes.

if you a noob at editing the registry then dont do it.. incase you delete the wrong key.. if your confident, then go ahead..

you can delete all the keys associated with it. just dont delete anything else and youll be fine.

you need to completely erase all values with it, not just the ones in the liscense part, the reinstall. make sure you get them all. and like diamond said it might be elsewhere like with poweriso it puts it in system32
