Default 5.1 output via MPC

ok so anyone know how to get audio to output to 5.1 (not via optical) in media player classic???

ive googled and googled and cant seem to get it to work anyway... if i play music thru winamp its 5.1, if i play videos thru winamp its 5.1, games are 5.1 too.. but anything i play thru mpc is only stereo, and mpc is the only thing ill use to watch videos lol..

anyone know?

Can't help you with that, but have you tried vlc player? The only time I use mpc is for dvds.

*edit*

ok nm fixed that lol.. what i dont get with mpc is it plays dvds in 5.1 just fine, but not just avi files and such (which output to 5.1 in winamp)

tho for some reason now dvd video quality is totally shit lol

Is it possible that some avi's aren't rendered with 5.1 support? If mpc plays dvds np, that tells me there's a problem with the avi.

Well it's not like mpc is installed or anything, it's a pretty small program. Maybe it doesn't "emulate"? lol idk :/
