item hitboxes
hi there,
i am called poisoned and i am from the clan www.brachial.org. I think some of u might know me, as we once had the problem, me calling one of my fake-servers "avamods something..". As i've been looking for some amxx code, i found some nice things around avamods Now i have a question - maybe, someone uf u might help me. In mapping, u are able to give an item a kind of hitbox - "breakable" items i mean - something u can break with one or two shots. My question now is - can i give an item like a wall or a box a hitbox as a player model has it? greez, pois |
it is kind of hard to follow what you're saying completely, but its a bit late here lol :)
a func_breakable entity in a map doesnt use hitboxes the same way that models do.. in a sense i guess they kind of do, but brush entities in maps basically use the geometry of the brush as the 'hitbox' if you want to make a wall or a box 'breakable' it has to aleady be a brush entity of some sort (like a func_wall) to change it into a func_breakable, at least as far as i'm aware. This is assuming you are talking about modifying/editing maps that are already compiled into bsp files not sure if that is what you are talking about |
is there any possibility to give for example a box a hitbox like a model uses?
My idea is, to give any kind of item a player model hitbox. So - maybe - someone using an aimbot shoots it automatically. If this would be so, any aimbot would get problems... That was my thought... |

do aimbots really go after the hitboxes? all model entities, player or not, use the same kind of hitboxes.. so if they did go by hitboxes, they would already be auto-aiming at any model thats on the screen, such as weapons, grenades, mapmodels.. etc.. which would make using an aimbot really frustrating and on some maps, impossible... i dont think its possible to do so anyway... |

yeah, well, that's not, what i am looking for.
but i already found, what i need to understand it. I thought some sources i can have a look at. i have some understanding of coding in basic and pascal, so, maybe, there is a chance for me to understand it. Ah, there is another thing... in germany, we founded a community - it's now been up for some days. It's about ban-exchanges. we use amxbans from yomama and wanted to have the possibility to get other servers also to this database. I codet a little tool, that connex to our global database. This bans are real bans - for every ban, there exitsts a demo, everyone can download and also have a look at. So, this tool connecs to the global database and collecs this bans in a grid - the u can also connect to your "local" database and sort the bans and update your database with the bans u wish to take. We are already some server admins and we hope to grow - so this cheat bans will at once be on a lot of other servers, people like. heh nice... a bit difficult for me to get around the website since its in german, but using common sense i can sorta figure out what some things say/mean :)
amxbans was a huge hassle for me, the plugin/web frontend is written so horribly i had to re-write large pieces of it, not to mention get a new game server lol. But ive finally got it working good :) |
what was your problems with amx bans?
I think, we will translate dodbans.de into english these days - it would be nice to have some "international" connections there with others as the databse will become more messy for cheaters... :0) Also we are only a few people working on dodbans at the moment. We need people 2 look over demos for example. I already read a lot about what you are doing in amxx. Also another one of our admins (Grottenolm from [RdE] - maybe u remember him) already knew about u guys. Some people experienced with the hl engine would be a grateful help. We have a lot of creative ideas, but, as it is with good ideas, not everything is eays to manage... Maybe there will be an "international connection" in the future as we could kick some little bastards asses through the net! hrhr greez, pois P.S.:I hope my english is not this horrible as it is already 'bout 2:45 am in germay....^^ |
