mass drops/disconnects
well this shit is pissing me off lately...
and im sure you all know what im talking about.. like when the server is full or near full.. then all of a sudden 90% of the people get disconnected.. it seems to be happening quite a bit lately.. tho alot of ppl reconnect right away.. its still really bothering me.. i dont really know what exactly is causing it as there isnt anything clearly showing whats going on right before it happens.. so im gonna be turning off some plugins and see if that helps any.. right now the main ones you'll notice that will be off are the rocks and the wildlife (the animals that move around the map, not the stationary ones like cows and such) ..im turning of a few other ones too but you might not even really notice those lol.. anyway if anyone has any ideas of what might being going on prior to these drops let me know (like say large firefights with lots of blood and explosions.. or lots of rocks or smoke.. etc etc..) also let me know if they continue to happen.. i wanna get to the bottom of this lol *edit* im also gonna add -zone 8192 to the command line and see if that helps any :-\ |
that happens all the time in cs 1.6...i'm not sure about the other games, but i know for a fact it's actually quite common...i know in the cs server i play it just happens randomly

ya it seems to be totally random.. at least theres nothing in the logs that is similar each time.. and its happens on random maps..
like tonight when i saw it happen.. it was on dod_orange.. so i know it cant be from cpu usage, as orange being a small simple map.. cpu usage only goes to like 20% on a full server (where ava on a full server is like 60+) all i can think is something (or maybe players themselves, most likely not even knowing it) spamming something in some way, maybe even just a command idk... and causing the server to overflow, resulting in it dropping clients.. it could also be from too many internal game messages, even tho whenever i use any in plugins i usually set them as unreliable.. which means the msgs themselves should get dropped if its gonna be too much for the clients to handle.. could be from plugins that create entities in certain ways that occasionally the creation (or even the removal) causes the server to flip out.. could be a task or something getting caught up in an endless loop that doesnt quit till the clients the loop is running on are gone.. idk.. who knows, it could even be from the server getting hammered by ppl trying to connect |
i usually just say it's a server fart...the server jumps dump a lot of people as a form of a soft reset...it may be the plugins messing the server in some way, but it happens to a lot of other servers, so you can't really pinpoint it to one plugin, so it may not even be our fault at all

whenever that happens, hlsw crashes and wants to send error report.. even tho i disabled it in like 3 places including the registry
