Default Windows 7 RC1 (build 7100)

anyone tried this out yet.. set for release from MS on the 5th but its been on torrents for a few days now..

i had tried out one of the early alpha versions and it ran pretty good for me (but then again i never once really had any issues when i used vista either)

got it burning to a dvd right now and ive been craving getting back onto a x64 OS for a while now and the x64 XP just fucking blows ass (being able to use all my ram would be a huge plus for the MySQL server i run for the stats lol)

more or less.. yes but its labeled RC1 instead of beta now (and it can be publically downloaded and used for a year i believe)

Quote:
Windows 7 RC1 can be downloaded now by MSDN, TechBeta and TechNet subscribers, and the general public will be able to download it on May 5. There is no limit to how many copies can be downloaded. The software will run until June 1, 2010, in what a Microsoft marketing manager described to ZDNet UK as a "try before you buy" scenario.

Quote:
Microsoft expects RC1 to be the only release candidate for Windows 7, Painell said. He gave no details on the final release date other than confirming the company's current estimate that it will be generally available no later than January 2010.

Ahh, thanks for the info. I havnt heard anything about this but I think i'll try putting it on my spare HD this weekend.

I'm running a dual boot with xp and xubuntu for the hell of it. Not too impressed with xubuntu. Yeah it's fast, but it sucks trying to do any gaming with linux.

ok so far so good now (after 4 reinstalls lol)

figured out the problem i had, it was with directory opus (my win explorer replacement i use) ..had to set it to not automatically replace explorer on its own, kinda sucks lol but better then nothing

and also had trouble with the nforce chipset drivers, only 2 out of like 8 or 9 of them would install, but ran it in vista sp2 compatibility mode and they all seemed to install and work now
